Burntwood Dragons v Shelfield United - 9th September 2018
Sufc under 9 sponsored by Knight Frank traveled to Burntwood this morning to get our season underway to take on the very good Dragons side.
With 10 players to choose from we had a near fully fit squad at our disposal. It was a very frustrating day for us as we where second to every ball and just out played and out muscled in every department. We ended up on the end of a heavy 9-0 defeat but we will dust ourselves down and go again next week. Thanks for the support from parents and grandparents today. We have decided to choose two men of the match this season. Parents went to Kieran who despite having 9 goals past him couldnt help any of them and made some good saves.
Managers went to Moo who continued to try his hardest and create something on a difficult morning.

Shelfield United 0 v Lichfield City Titans 11- 16th September 2018
Shelfield United under 9 sponsored by Knight Frank entertained Lichfield Titans this morning minus our skipper Alfie. After a disappointing start to the season last week we where hoping on a better performance and result. However it was not to be as we where slower and second to every first and second ball and didnt close play down quick enough. These factors where key as we suffered our worst ever defeat. Time to roll our sleeves up and dig in next week boys.. Thanks to parents for support and help after the game. Parents man of match went to Joseph and managers went to Kieran

Lichfield City 5 v Shelfield Utd FC 2 - 23rd September 2018
Shelfield United Fc travelled to Beacon Park to face Lichfield City today on a great day for football.
After two disappointing defeats in previous weeks we told the boys to take on board what we had worked on in training and go and show us on the pitch.
We started quite well with some great attacking play however a couple of defensive errors in not clearing a corner let Lichfield take the lead.
We hit back for our first goal of the season thanks to a great move involving Seth, Alfie J and David, Seth turned his man and squared to Alfie who beat 2 men before releasing David and he does what he does best fired it home, 1-1!
We had several chances to take the lead through Seth, Alfie, Moo and David who if they had better composure could have finished the chances.
Second half and Lichfield scored 3 quick goals all on the break, we dominated chances most of the 2nd half just didnt have the luck in front of goal.
We did manage to grab a second after a good ball from David into Moo who coolly finished under the gk, Lichfield broke and scored again to finish it 5-2.
All in all a huge improvement from recent weeks and lots to build on thanks to parents for their support.

Chasetown Scholars 9 v Shelfield Utd FC 2 - 30th September 2018
We travelled to take on a very good Chasetown Scholars team today minus the Rowley brothers.
Meaning some players playing in unfamiliar positions.
After 3 disappointing results the lads where told to go out and give their best and work hard for each other.
We started superbly and took the lead after a good ball from our skipper Alfie into Moo who inturn beat two men and squared across the box, where Charlie was on hand to score his first goal for the club on his full debut.
It was fantastic to see all the lads including gk kieran run to congratulate Charlie on the achievement.
Shortly after it was 2 from a David corner, Phil came in at the back post and smashed it home.
We could have scored a couple more if we could have had composure infront of goal.
However 3 quick goals from Chasetown made our lads heads drop and this only got worse as they ran out 9-2 winners.
Parents man of the match went to David for a non stop display in an unfamiliar midfield role.
Managers award went to Charlie for his first goal for the club and continued effort throughout.
Thanks to parents for support again.

Shelfield United 2 v Vhasetown 2 - 21st October 2018
Shelfield United sponsored by Knight Frank hosted Chasetown Juniors this morning after a two week break.
We went into the game after a very difficult opening month to the campaign and also missing our skipper Alfie through illness.
Before the game we told the boys to continue the hardwork they have showed in training and to believe in their own ability.
We started on the front foot and dominated possession, skipper for the day Joseph was a rock at the back with well timed tackles and good distribution.
David was continuing his fine form in a new midfield role and was bossing the game.
We took the lead when a square ball from Moo into David, who intern took a touch and then hit a looping shot that dipped over the gk and went in.
1-0 ht.
Second half we made a couple of changes but this didn't stop us from being on top it made us stronger going forward, chasetown caught us on the break and scored.
However we quickly went back in front through a great finish from Alex after giid work from Seth on the left and support play from Michael.
But heartbreak for the boys as chasetown scored with 30 seconds left after a defensive slip.
Huge improvement though from the lads and where easily the better side.
Thanks to parents for support and help at the end.
Managers motm went to David for his dominating performance and parents motm went to Joseph for his excellent display at the back.
Looks good moving forward after this outing, keep it going boys.

Strikes v Shelfield United - 11th November 2018
Sufc sponsored by Knight Frank travelled to play Strikes this morning minus our 2 gk's.
Phil deserves a huge amount of credit for volunteering to don the gloves for his team.
We lined up proudly wearing our poppies and linked arms to observe the minutes silence.
We where absolutely immense first half against a good team, battling all over the park for first and second balls.
We defended brilliantly with Joseph and Alex rocks at the back, Michael and Moo where superb on the flanks getting up and down and Dave was tremendous in his new midfield position despite carrying a knock.
Seth up top got in some great positions.
Moo, Seth and David all went close to giving us a deserved lead.
Second half and two split second errors cost us and an unfortunate slip by Phil in goal made the 3-0 scoreline sound a lot worse than the performance deserved.
Totally flattered our opponents.
Thanks to all support today from parents.
Their motm went to Moo for his all round effort, whilst managers vote went to Alex for a commanding display at the back on his birthday.
Onto next week boys, keep the positives going and results will come.

Shelfield United v Whitington- 18th November 2018
Shelfield United under 9 sponsored by Knight Frank hosted Whittington today on a great morning for football.
After a very difficult start to the season in which the boys have faced some real good sides, we where positive going into todays game after a spirited performance last week.
However we had just 8 players at our disposal as Charlie and Phil were ill and David who has been instrumental in the last few weeks in midfield has suffered a nasty injury that will keep him out for a while.
We started superbly and had our opponents under pressure constantly in the first half thanks to the endeavour and energy of the front 4, Michael, Moo, Seth and Kieran.
Whilst the few chances Whittington had where snuffed out by the solid back two of Joseph and Alex, whilst Byron in goal looked comfortable.
We took the lead after a corner from Moo wasnt cleared and Alex smashed it home, Whittington equaliser after catching us out at the break.
Second half and same story good possession and all round teamwork created us a few decent chances, however a shot from outside the box deflected of Michael and crept past Byron to leave us 2-1 down with 7 minutes to go.
But as in previous weeks our boys dug in and got the deserved equaliser thanks to a good run from Seth who fed Moo he beat his man and played in Michael who smartly beat the gk.
An all round solid effort from the boys today and deserved a win.
Thanks to all parents and grandparents for the fantastic vocal support for the boys and for the help at the final whistle.
Parents motm went to Alex for another dogged didplay at the back.
Manager's motm went to Seth for an energetic and hardworking effort.

Shelfield United v Red Star - 2nd December 2018
Sufc under 9 sponsored by Knight Frank hosted our near neighbours from up the road this morning Red Star.
Usually all of our games are close encounters however todays was far from that.
A very disappointing display from the boys today where the plain and simple basics of the game where not adhered to.
One bright spark on a really bad day at the office was the performance and goal from Seth who battled and continued to try his best.
One game left before the xmas break and we told the boys we need a massive improvement next week.
Watch this space...
Thanks to all parents for their support today and help at the end.
Parents vote for motm went to Seth whilst Kieran got the managers vote for his efforts.

Shelfield United v Chasetown - 9th December 2018
Shelfield United under 9 donned our Red kit sponsored by JS complete installations today for the visit of Chasetown Colts.
After the hugely disappointing result and performance last week we asked the boys in training yesterday to put on a show today, and boy they did!!

We only had 7 players available today with no subs to call upon, we told the boys beforehand it was going to be tough and they needed to dig in and work hard.
They certainly did themselves justice as they where awesome to a man.
Battling for every ball, fantastic football and great teamwork to get back and help out when needed.
Joseph and Alex at the back where defending for their lives with full blooded challenges and good blocks, whilst Byron in goal did his job when called upon.
The midfield 3 of Michael, Moo and Seth worked tirelessly to get up and down whilst Kieran battled away upfront.
The only goal of the game was a fine solo effort, after a great tackle from Moo he played in Seth who beat 3 players down the left to slide it home past the on rushing gk.
We could have had more with Michael, Alex and Seth all coming close.
All in all a superb effort from the lads today to grind out a first win of the season and positives to hopefully take forward into 2019.
Parents and Managers agreed that it would be a unanimous vote for motm to award it to the whole team.
7 warriors!!
Thanks to all parents and grandparents for the tremendous vocal support and help at the end.
