Thank you to all Shelfield United FC members who supported our fundraising event ‘Run for Isabella’ – a 5k sponsored fancy dress run held at Shelfield United. The event was organised by Johanna Moseley to raise money for Isabella Lyttle, a local girl who needs specialist cancer treatment only available in America. The event raised a massive £1524.00 which was a fantastic achievement and will now be added to the fund. If you did not attend the event but would still like to make a donation then please visit the following website: https://www.justgiving.com/campaigns/charity/solvingkidscancer/isabellalyttle

Club Achieves CASC Status
Over the last 6 months the Committee of SUFC have been working hard behind the scenes to help secure the long term future of our Club. Following a fantastic first season we are pleased to announce the from 1st July 2017 Shelfield United Football Club have been granted Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC) status. This means that the Club is effectively now set up as a Charity and is officially governed as one. We believe that this is a major step forward in helping the Club fulfil its long term goals and secure additional funding for years to come.

The CASC scheme was set up by the Government in 2002 and allows SUFC to register with HMRC in the same way that registered charities do. This also allows SUFC to benefit from tax incentives and additional funding that will help the Club grow. It also allows the Club to benefit from Gift Aid on any donations that are made to the Club. This is currently an extra 25p for every £1 donated. For the remainder of this season we would expect to receive additional income of around £4000 from this scheme alone.

With every penny raised being reinvested into the Club to help develop players, grounds, buildings and coaches we believe that having CASC status will allow the Committee to achieve its long term goals in a shorter time scale as well as securing the long term future of the Club.

We will be inviting parent who pays subscriptions for their child to complete a simple Gift Aid form so we can claim on your behalf from the tax man. This costs you nothing but the minute or so it takes to fill in the document. Your manager will have forms already printed or you can download one here. If you have any further questions please speak to Pete Grice at the desk on Saturday morning or any other member of the committee.

On behalf of the Committee we thank all our players, parents, supporters, coaches and volunteers for your continued support.

2017 Annual General Meeting

The club held its Annual General Meeting at the Boat House pub on the evening of Monday May 15th 2017. The turnout from members was good and Leigh Tricklebank and the committee would like to thank all those who attended.

Topics discussed were the clubs financial status which is looking extremely positive along with a summary of our progress both on and off the pitch during the 2016/17 season. There was also a preview of some exciting development plans for the grounds which when implemented will even further enhance the footballing experience for the players, parents and supporters.

Please take time to download and read the report (link below) and direct any further questions or comment to any member of the committee.

Under 14's Win League Title!

Our Under 14's won their title decider today in a blistering competiton against Huntington Harriers. There was a superb turn out of very loud supporters to cheer the lads on and the game was played in good spirits. Huntington had the best of the opening exchanges but a tactical change moving Elliot Fox to the wing and Rob Dukes into midfield turned the game on it's head. Josh Simpson-Lewis got the breakthrough just before half time with top goalscorer Owen Bradford getting the second to seal the win.

An absolutely superb end to a fantastic season - full match report on the team page!

Under 12 Whites - Ball Boys at Walsall FC!

Our Under 12 Whites had a great day out at the Banks's Stadium yesterday on ball boy duties for Walsall FC in their game against Northampton Town. The day began early with the lads meeting at our ground to do a sponsored 5 mile walk to the stadium.

On arrival they got a training session from the Walsall FC coaches and got to train with some of the first team squad. They then had a tour of the facilities. Not only did they get to sit in the dugout pre-match but they also found time to get their photo took with "Swifty" the Wasall mascot (pictured above).

The lads must have also brought some good luck as the mighty Saddlers ran out 2-1 winners in the main event. Thanks to all the coaches and parents who helped out on the day. Special mention to Andy Turner and ERF Electrical who sponsored the lads track suit bottoms!

All the pictures from the day are in ourPhoto Gallery

Latest Statement of Club Affairs Published

The club has published a 6 month statement of affairs for review by all members. Since the new committee headed by chairman Leigh Tricklebank took charge in April the club has gone from strength to strength.

This summer period has seen the Club, for the first time in its history, order every new player a full match and training
kit as well as rain jackets. We have also supplied all teams and the Academy with all the new equipment that they will
require for this season.

We currently have over a HUNDRED children playing each Saturday morning. We are also attracting new players and teams to Shelfield United. Going into the 2016/17 season we will have a record number of players and teams.

The club is currently in a good financial position. We now have to consolidate this over the winter period to ensure that we can start the following season in a stronger position. This will allow the Committee to fulfil our long term goals for this Club.

Thank you to all our players, parents and coaches for your continued support !

Thanks Vicky!

It was the end of an era yesterday as Vicky Corbett sadly stepped down as General Secretary of Shelfield United due to personal commitments. Vicky had been with the club for many years and it would not be where it is now without her efforts and professionalism.

Chairman Leigh Tricklebank said "Vicky has been an ever present beacon during my five years with the club and I'm sure both current and former members will join me in thanking Vicky for her hard and at sometimes thankless work."

A big thank you Vicky from all the committee, coaching staff, players, parents and helpers. You will be sadly missed, and as Leigh said in his recent post on Facebook, don't be a stranger!

Shelfield United FC to host Charity Match in aid of AJ & Birmingham Childrens Hospital

The match has been organised by Brett Harvey of Short Heath Rangers in aid of a very poorly boy, AJ, who needs urgent medical care. Half of the money raised will go to Birmingham Childrens Hospital. The match between Short Heath Rangers and Shire Oak Allstars will kick off 10:30am on Sunday 17th July. Brett says:

"AJ is the reason why I have set all this up. He has been receiving treatment on his legs at Birmingham Children's hospital. Unfortunately the news hasn't been too good for AJ and his family. They payed for private care at first before being seen at the children's hospital.

Reason why I wanted to do something myself is to raise money for both 50% for Birmingham children's hospital and 50% for AJ 's future medical costs. Birmingham children's hospital have been fantastic with the help and support they've given AJ and his family. We as a team wanted to do something for the family. Test are still on going but the family are paying to get results as soon as possible will have to pay with getting AJ further treatment in the future.

Thank you for taking time to read this and please every penny does count. I know everyone says this but it really does.
Just need to say a big thank you to Leigh Tricklebank (Chairman of Shelfield United FC) with very short notice he has given us the chance to use their pitch at no cost. He couldn't of done anymore for me or the charity match. Please come and support the team if possible"

We hope that everyone from Shelfield United will go down there on the day to support this great cause. There's also a Just Giving page set up so you can make donations, CLICK HERE to donate, it takes a couple of minutes.

U11's & U12's Enter the Bilston Floodlit Cup

Our U11's & U12's are entering the Bilston Floodlit Cup this coming season.

The Bilston Town Floodlit Cup was created in 2009/10, and was - and still is - the only midweek junior competition where every game is played under floodlights, at Bilston Town FC.

It really is a unique competition that brings together teams from across the Midlands, and offers them the professional experience of playing midweek, under lights, in a stadium, here at Bilston Town, with three appointed officials on every game played.

Limited to 32 teams and played throught the season on a Tuesday and Thursday night it offers teams the chance to play against teams they would never normally meet in circumstances most of these players will never experience again.

From it's very inception it has caught the imagination of the teams involved, and every year the 32 places are quickly taken up, with several more teams on a 'waiting list' should anyone drop out.

Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Bilston, the teams not only compete for the prestigious Floodlit Cup Trophy and Title of Midlands Champions, the winners also receive £100 prize money, courtesy of the Bilston Rotary Club.

Join us in wishing the lads from Shelfield every success!

AGM Update - Statement of Affairs

Following a very productive AGM on Monday 23rd of May the committee has now published a statement of affairs for all members to review. The club is in a great place to move forward both in organisation and financial outlook. The members voted on a small increase to monthly subscriptions to cover the ever rising costs of running a football club. The new price of £22 per month is however still very competitve compared to other teams in the area. There are also new ways to pay to reduce the overall cost. Price increase will be effective from July 1st 2016. You can download the full summary here.

New 2016/17 season Child Record Form available for download

The child record form for the new season is now available. All children signed to teams and those who just train on a Saturday must complete one of these so the club knows vital contact details and medical requirements. You can download it straight from here or visit the Club Forms page. Please note we have a new bank account which subs must be paid to from 1st July 2016. Details on the form.

We are on Twitter!

The club now has its very own Twitter feed and at the time of writing we already have over 70 followers, the majority of which are from outside the area and not connected to the club. This really spreads the name of Shelfield United FC far and wide and will raise the profile of the club. You can follow us by searching for @ShelfieldUtdFC

Under 10's - League Champions!

Shelfield Utd FC were warmly welcomed by LDRL at the 2015-16 annual presentations, held at Drayton Manor, where the U10s were awarded their Championship Winners trophy. In now their 5th year with the club, the U10s suffered many heavy defeats in their first two seasons, but this terms award was no fluke, having lost to only 8 teams in the last two campaigns.

The U10s are an hard working team littered with superstars, who have collectively improved beyond recognition since the U7s days. A special mention for the teams coaches and parents who have nurtured the boys to this success and have remained patient and supportive throughout the years.

Well done boys!

Under 11's Whites Win Achievement Shield!

On Sunday April 10th our U11's Whites won the Achievement Shield, beating Sutton Town Juniors 2-0 in a tight affair at Red Star FC's ground in Aldridge in front of around 150 supporters. Both goals came from Ashley Bucknall. Manager Carl Thompson awarded the whole team with man of the match. A truly great achievement and well done to the players and coaches involved.

Please see the Whites team page for a full match report. There are also more photographs from the day in the gallery.

New Committee Elected for 2016/2017 Season

Everyone at the club are extremely grateful to both of them and on behalf of the managers, players, parents and supporters of Shelfield United FC we thank them and wish them well for the future.
